Day 4: Organizing Your Bedroom
Okay, now were going to kick it up a notch and tackle one of the most important rooms in your home, the bedroom! It is a known fact that waking up to a clean bedroom can help start the day off on the right foot. Check out this helpful “How To“ on keeping your room neat and organized below as we continue the 10 Days of Organization with Day 4!
Organizing Your Bedroom
Organizing Your Closet:
Color coordinate. I know that might sound a little crazy, but to me, a color coordinated closet is an neat and organized one. Give it a try, you might enjoy it!
Donate old clothes. Donating your clothes you no longer wear helps those in need whether an individual person or a charity. Donating clothes also can help with de-cluttering as well.
Store seasonal clothes. If you need additional hagning space in your closet, store seasonal items in a storage bin and take it out when needed.
Organizing Your Dresser:
Start by emptying the dresser completely. Emptying the dresser and starting from scratch is a great way to weed out any unwanted items as well as gives the opportunity to fold your clothes are you put them back in.
Always fold your clothes before returning the item to the dresser. You’ll appreciate the time this saves int he future.
Less is more. Avoid cluttering the top of your dresser with too many trinkets.
Keep the room clean.
Make your bed each morning. Making your bed is one of the fastest and easiest ways to make a bedroom look neat, even when it’s need of a little cleaning. As an added bonus, studies have shown that sleeping in a made bed helps you sleep better at night.
Rotate your mattress. I know rotating your ma tress doesn’t sound like organizing your bedroom, but what better time to do it then now? Rotating your bed can actually give your mattress a chance for a longer life and according to this article I found on MarthaStewart.com, should be done at least 4 times a year! Click here to see the article.
Wipe down your windows and mirrors. Again, this might not sound like an organization tip, but its always nice to have clean windows and mirrors.
Vacuum and/or sweep. Vacuuming and/or sweeping is a quick way to make any space feel clean.
Items To Invest In To Help Organize Your Bedroom:
Quality closet hangers. Quality hangers are definitely worth the investment. Not only are you keeping the clothes safe from stretching, but your saving yourself time by having to pick up your clothes from the floor. One of my all time favorite places for quality hangers is the Container Store. To check out their site, click the link below!
Step stool. If needed, a fold up step stool is great for hard-to-reach areas of the closet.
New light bulbs. Freshen up the room’s look with new, bright bulbs.
Shoe rack. A good shoe rack helps keep your shoes nice and neat.
Under the beds drawers or storage bins. Storage bins and pull out drawers are great for adding extra storage space.
Jewelry box. The amount of stuff that goes in it is not important, a jewelery box will keep all your items safe.
Batteries for the smoke detector. No better time to do this than now.
One of my all time favorite places to shop for all things organization Special Savings clearance and sale items. You’re sure to find a great deal there!)

We are sooo on the same page about being organized. People call me a “neat freak” but it keeps me calm.

You and I are on the same page a lot!! I totally agree with you, organizing stuff keeps me calm too! Thank you so, so much for stopping by
My closet has been color-coordinated for years (thank you to my best friend for that idea). And I’ve gone a step further and color-coordinated each category of clothes – shirts, trousers, skirts, dresses, sweaters, etc. It not only makes life easier, it makes my closet look so pretty.
That’s amazing!! If you have pics, feel free to send them my way, your closet sounds fabulous!
Oh, I am going through the organisation of the bedroom/closet at the moment! Just moved house. Need shoe racks and some quality hangers desperately! Inspired to go and get it all sorted today! Thanks!
I have read a couple of your posts on getting organized. I think I will do this for my May challenge – once I’m done school and have time to do these things. Thanks for the great theme!
